We’re keeping the positivity going with Heidi Powell on today’s episode of Heartfelt Success Podcast. You most likely know Heidi from her work on ABC’s television show, “Extreme Weight Loss.” Heidi is also a best-selling author, an inspiring blogger, a personal fitness coach, and a mother of four! Last year, Heidi and her husband also launched “TRANSFORM,” an app that provides a built in community for people trying to transform their lives! Heidi has managed to achieve so much with her family and career, but also opened up about life behind the camera and away from the Instagram feed! Heidi is one of the sweetest women I’ve ever met and that definitely shows in our conversation. You will love hearing her talk about her kids and how she tackles travel and work with raising a family. She has so much experience and insight on how to make quality time with your kids. Heidi also opened up about “mommy guilt” and how she deals. Isn’t mommy guilt seriously the worst?! I struggle with it weekly! Just like the rest of us working moms out there, we’re both looking for ways to balance our kids, our careers, and our own personal happiness.
Heidi also gives us the low down about the unique ups and downs of working with your husband and maintaining a strong marriage with a strong career! From personal experience, I know what a special juggling act that can be! You will not want to miss Heidi’s tips.
This episode is honestly filled with so much positivity and inspiration! Heidi tells her personal method to keep her life in balance by being “beneficially selfish” and we both reveal all of the struggles and reality behind those perfectly polished blog posts and Instagram feeds. Heidi also shares the best advice for any woman struggling with being imperfect in a seemingly perfect world. They are definitely words we all need to hear!
Heidi Powell was such a sweet and joyful person to have on the podcast! This episode really can’t help but make you smile and bring some much needed positive energy to your day! As we keep recording new episodes, don’t ever hesitate to leave comments, suggestions, or feedback! I want these episodes to be heartfelt and relevant to each and every one of you, so I would love to hear from you!
Highlights From The Show
“No matter where we think we want to go, by the time we get there, we’re not going to be there yet. We’re going to have a new goal.” (6:28)
“I feel like it is such an insane privilege for me to get to by their mom. So while there is ‘mommy guilt’ there is also mad appreciation for the role that I have. (8:40)
“As moms, innately, we are programmed to take care of everyone else’s needs…but what happens when you aren’t taking care of the most important person in the world? If you’re not taking care of yourself, then no one else around you can be properly taken care of.” (9:45)
“Beneficially selfish is being selfish for the benefit of other people. You must take care of who you are in order to take care of other people and in order to appreciate other people. If you begin to appreciate and love yourself, then you can better appreciate and love the people around you.” (12:10)
“As women, we need to realize we are doing enough. No matter where we are in the journey, if we are trying, and we are getting up every morning, and giving love to other people, but most importantly to ourselves, and we are forgiving ourselves for our imperfections, then we are exactly where we need to be.” (15:35)
“As women it is so easy to beat ourselves up for what we’re not living up to…”
“We’re very perfectly imperfect. If you expect your journey….to be perfect, then you’re wrong. You really are wrong. You have to know that there are going to be days where you fall flat on your face. You have to know that you are going to fall over and over and over, but you need to keep in mind that you don’t actually fail until you choose to quit.” (38:35)
